Appendix Carry. #1 reason not to vs Pincus' Top 5 Reasons he carries that was

On the Guns Over Texas Podcast from this weekend the hosts talked about an accident at one of the major training academy's where a man was appendix carrying and upon re-holstering fired off a round into his boys.

Follow this up with a Tacital Wire link to an article by Rob Pincus Top 5 Reasons I carry in the "Appendix" Postion

Sorry Rob. I like my friends a little too much to covering them. Plus I'd hate to pull that off and hit the femoral artery. I can deal with missing a chunk of flesh out by butt or leg a lot easier than my good friends.

Alarms Find it Funny to Act Up

I do believe that house alarms find it very funny to act up in the wee hours of the morning.

Mine chose 3:30 this morning. By the time everything was cleared and reset it was 5min until my usual wake up time.

Notes: time to get a belt and holster to keep by bed.
There is no good way to retain a firearm and use your hands to check windows in boxer shorts.

Baseball Self Destruct

Watching a group of boys who started out the season on top of their game self destruct into giving games away is killing me.
The supportive team that started out as one has disintegrated into a group of individuals out on the field.

The first game of the win or go home bracket is Sat.
Any ideas on how to bring them back together?

Up For Consideration in TX on Sat. And the Campus Parking Lot bill

The Texas Senate passed the Campus parking lot bill yesterday which is a great first step towards Campus Carry. They are also scheduled to take on a whole slew of Gun Rights bills on May 4th. Interestingly enough the date coincides with the NRA Annual Meeting being held in Houston this weekend.

While I want to see Campus Carry passed the current bill has been ripped apart with all kinds of not so good amendments. One of the items listed for vote is an amendment to the bill to return it to it's original state.

My feeling on the Campus parking lot bill is that it is far better to get this bill than a bad Campus Carry bill or nothing at all.

Check out the NRA ILA site for the full list of items up for consideration. NRA - ILA TX Update

ZOMG A Cartoon Character in ON THE BOX

Last night the Nightly Propaganda News on one of the local channels covered a story out of Kentucky where a 4yr old shot his 2yr old sister with his .22.

The story is pretty cut and dry nothing out of the normal for this type of occurrence which is always Tragic.

Then they trotted out a woman who was all for "Reasonable Gun Restrictions". Well you should have to be a certain age to own a gun.

After this the reporter goes on to tackle the angle of ZOMG their targeting children with the advertising. Look at the box!

As she handles one of the rifles in the chain sporting goods parking lot and cuts to a video of a 4 yr old girl shooting the rifle at an EMPTY indoor range.

Looks like they're going to start targeting us in the same manner they did to this guy.

This is ridiculous, The box did not attract the kid to want the rifle. The kid prob didn't even pick the rifle. I'm sure dad did. And he did so without seeing the box until it was purchased. The fact that is it is a small single shot .22 that is made to properly fit our smaller versions along with price was the selling factor.

Unfortunately the fail here lies in the judgement of the parents. I am all for teaching children to shoot at a young age. However a 4yr old, no matter how mature does not have the cranial capacity to understand the full implication of what may happen. In my opinion it should have been stored safely away for access.

It is not the fault of the Cricket Firearm, it's logo, the manufacturer, or the "Gun Culture". The fault lies with parental units who did not maintain proper control of a firearm allowing a 4yr old the ability to shoot his sister.
